Well, the kids have passed their baby years and are now in elementary school. We are left with a big amount of baby items and begin to wonder which items to keep and which to part with.
Here are the five baby items which you should keep after the baby stage passes:
1. The Nursing Pillow
It’s soft, it’s comfortable and it holds such sweet and loving memories. The nursing pillow can be used as a regular pillow, a couch pillow or a floor pillow. Place it in the kids’ room – the kids will get creative with it and make use of it. If you were to only keep one item, the nursing pillow is an item that you should hold onto for just a little bit longer. The cozy possibilities are endless!
2. The Bassinet
This item is on the bulky side and you’re probably thinking of donating it/passing it down to your girlfriend that just had a baby. But that’s only one way of extending its purpose. Another way of making use of the bassinet is by turning it into a toy/book box. The bassinet, just like the nursing pillow, also holds sweet memories, but I’m not saying you should keep it because of the memories attached to it. I’m saying that you should keep it because it’s perfect for storage – you will end up buying toy boxes anyway so make use of what you already have. The kids will love the stories you tell them about their baby years sleeping in the bassinet.
3. The Plastic/Silicone Baby Plates
One word: picnics! Yes, these brightly coloured, fun print, plastic plates do have life after the baby stage. Pack them in your picnic bag when you go to the park, beach, cottage, etc. Because the plates are plastic, you don’t have to worry about them breaking or being too heavy to carry. Kids will also love being able to play and host a ‘tea party’ with their baby plates. Hang on to them for just a little bit longer!
4. The Baby Clothes
Did you know that the first age range for baby clothes (0-3 months) can fit standard size dolls?! It’s amazing! Keep the best baby pieces and hand them over to the kids to dress up their dolls. Instead of buying doll clothes, why not make use of what you already have? Your kids will have a laugh looking at their baby clothes and realizing how tiny they actually were as babies!
5. The Wooden Blocks
The wooden blocks can be so versatile and are great for: spelling, stacking, designing, math, home decor, and learning. Not only are they beautiful but they are also good-to-go through elementary school. The kids can build words and create messages with them. They can use them like Lego pieces and build simple towers. You could also always reuse them to decorate your house, my personal favorite is to decorate my fireplace mantle with little towers.
