Are you looking for a really nice, dark red lipstick that isn’t too bright? For those of us that want to spark our vampy obsession, the trick is all about finding that beautiful maroon, blood shade. It actually can be a lot trickier than finding a regular red lipstick. Try these out for size before making your first purchase, because these lipsticks can pricey and turn out a little bit different depending on what your skin color and lip colors are.
1. Mac – Diva ($16usd)
The Mac Diva is a nice matte red. It’s a little bit more on the plum side but it can be a very good balance of that deeper red and plum shade (if you’re looking for that). It’s not a true crimson red but it does look great if you don’t want something too dark. Like all Mac lipsticks, this one stays on very well and lasts throughout the day and it doesn’t dry out your lips.
2. Revlon – Wine Not ($9usd)
From the drugstore brands, we’re seeking another dark red lipstick we can put to the test at a lower price. This Revlon matte red lipstick is very suitable for a deep red vampy look, but can be a bit drying compared to the Mac lipsticks. It has gotten a lot of good reviews from people though. It has a red tint, and can be a bit brighter, but it will satisfy a vampy look just fine.
3. Lipstick Queen Sinner – Wine ($22usd)
The lipstick sinner in wine is a nice deep matte red. You would need to get a few layers in between for it to show up well, but it would also work as a lipstain if you wanted to. The deep red color is very wine-esque as the name suggests. Reviews say it does last for a long time but it can be a little drying for certain people.
4. Nars – Volga ($26usd)
The NARS Volga lipstick is known as one of the vampiest lipsticks out there. It’s a nice silky smooth matte texture and it stays on well. People say that it’s very buttery and doesn’t dry out much at all. The color itself is very dark and crimson and it runs on the red side. The price is a bit high for this vampy lipstick though.
5. Urban Decay Revolution – Shame ($22usd)
The Urban Decay Revolution in Shame is a creamy “deep berry red” that is not matte, and has a slight shine. It can be a bit sticky in the finish after wearing for a long time. The formula isn’t as great, as the reviews say, but it can still be an amazing deep red lipstick that is slightly on the plum-my side.
