If you’ve ever baked any type of pie from scratch then you’ll understand how much hard work goes into it. Making the pie crust alone can take quite a while when you have to let it rest in the fridge. Why not skip all of this hassle and extra useless calories by making a 5 minute instant apple pie that tastes just as good? This pie is relatively healthy so you won’t even have to worry about not being able to eat dessert afterwards. It’s quite easy to make and works great as a snack after a long day of work.
Just how many will this apple pie feed?
From experience, if you’re eating it as a snack, each apple will feed anywhere from 1-2 people. It’s really easy to whip up a second batch in no time anyways so it doesn’t hurt to have a couple extra apples lying around in case you need more!
Step 1. Cut your apple into slices of a thickness you prefer
Thinner slices are preferable as it makes it easier for the cinnamon and brown sugar to soak into the apple flesh. We also recommend red or green delicious apples as they’re already sweeter than other types. This way you’ll be able to use less brown sugar and still make a sweet treat!
Step 2. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over the apple pie slices
If you want your apple pie to be sweeter, use more brown sugar. If you’d like a nuttier flavor, use more cinnamon. The balance is completely up to you!
3. Pop the apple pie slices into the microwave/oven
Now you’re really going to let the flavors of the brown sugar and cinnamon melt into the apple. Stick your apple pie slices into the oven if you like them a little bit crispy. Personally we prefer the microwave as it helps retain the moisture just like a juicy apple pie would be like in real life!
We like to zap our apple pie slices for about 3 minutes in the microwave on medium head. Don’t jack up the temperature too high or else you’ll burn the slices!
4. Allow your apple pie slices to cool and then enjoy!
Once your slices are ready to take out of the oven, let them cool to the touch and then enjoy with a scoop of ice cream! You can even use the apple pie slices are garnishing for a breakfast dish such as a stack of pancakes or waffles. Really though, the options are endless.
