Nothing gets us as riled up as a collection that screams: power woman.
It should come as no surprise that we here at Destination Femme are huge proponents of the concept: power woman. The term reinforces the progress women have made in the world. What gets us even more happy in our panties is when fashion illustrates this. Don’t get us wrong, we’re all for the whole tomboy-style and androgynous fashion; but there is just a je ne sais quoi about a collection that celebrates a strong woman.
This demonstration was made loud and clear at the Atelier Versace couture show. Each and every look (even the power suits that Donatella is famous for designing) appeared to embrace and rejoice in what it means to be a woman. The hemlines and cuts were flattering. You could tell that- even off the models’ 6’0, size 0 frames- the ensembles would make any women look ever so glamorous.
The exotic tone and opulent colours added to the richness of the collection. Aztec-like cut outs, veils, and Grecian goddess drapery, to us, were so symbolic of the fact that women, no matter what era, are creatures to be celebrated. Call us cheesy, but this connection spoke power woman like no other. Even the beauty looks were perfect for the sentiment. The models were given fierce shadowed eyes and walked down that runway like they were off to conquer the world.
Beyond the metaphoric analysis of this breath-taking collection, the sexy looks were to die for (something our hubbies would most likely be happy to see us all in).
