This is super exciting news and arguably one of the best collaborations recently. Pharrell Williams and Cara Delevingne have joined forces with Chanel to create a short film. The film entitled, “Reincarnation” will be directed by Chanel’s creative director, Karl Lagerfeld and is set to air December 2nd.
A teaser of the short film has been released and oh my goodness, are we ever excited. The trailer features the two stars dancing in a luxurious hotel. Cara is dressed in a beautiful Russian inspired ball gown and Pharrell wears a structured uniform. The idea behind the film is to follow the evolution and journey of Coco Chanel’s iconic Chanel jacket. The story goes a little something like this: in 1954, Gabrielle Chanel was vacationing at an Austrian hotel. It was there where she saw the uniform of the elevator operator which inspired her famous jacket. In the film, the 41-year-old musician Pharrell plays the elevator operator who, in a dream like sequence, is reincarnated as Franz Joseph I, the Emperor of Austria, while the 22-year-old model Cara Delevingne plays his wife, Empress Elisabeth “Sisi” of Austria. The song in the film was produced by Pharrell and will feature Cara Delevingne as a singer. If you have never heard Cara sing, you’ve got to check it out. This girl is way more than just a model.
The film will be debuted in full alongside its Métiers d’Art collection in Salzburg next week. Talk about a grand event. We knew that the two were rumored to be working on a collaboration together but never did we think it would be on such a grand scale. Regardless, this will be one for the history books. Just look how dashing the pair are together.
What do you think of this collaboration? Do Pharrell and Cara Delevingne make a good pair to embrace the Chanel brand?
