We’re in an apple mood this week. We saw how well-received the apple pie rolls were, and so we’re bringing another apple-inspired recipe! Have you heard of charlottka before? If you haven’t, and you’re in the mood for trying out new things, then make this simple dessert for your friends. They will definitely be impressed, especially since they don’t know how much work you actually put in (hue).
So what exactly is charlottka? It’s a primarily Russian dish that has been around for ages; this is probably a handed down recipe that every Russian has heard of. Simply put, this is an apple in its easiest form. People will love it. This is better than the McDonald’s apple pie and it’s so easy that anyone can make it: yes, even those that are incredibly horrible at cooking (like me). All you have to do is measure out the correct amounts of ingredients… and well, you’ll see how simple it can be!
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup of flour
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2 apples
- icing sugar
Step 1: Cut up the apples into small-ish pieces.
Step 2: Mix flour, sugar, and eggs into a bowl
Step 3: Add the apples to the mixture
Step 4: Pour the apple mixture into a baking pan or a round baking tray
Step 5: Bake for 35-40 minutes at 180C. Take it out and lightly sprinkle the charlottka with icing sugar.
Would you try this super easy charlottka at home? Why or why not?
