When you lose weight too rapidly, there are some adverse side effects that you might not have expected. Thanks to this brave soul, ObesetoBeast , the world knows that it’s ok to have loose skin and not be ashamed. Take a look at the video below if you haven’t checked it out yet.
So what does one do about loose skin?
First, accept that it’s something completely normal and you should be proud of yourself for changing to a healthier lifestyle and losing the weight. Second, now that you’ve identified the problem, you can make some adjustments while your skin slowly regains it’s prior elasticity. Also consider these tips while you’re in the process of losing weight.
1. Stay hydrated
Water is key and even though you’ve heard of this a million times, it’s so important to stay hydrated. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and sodas or juices don’t count!
2. Eat more collagen and elastin
Beans, fish, spinach, kale (good for everything), etc. are things that are plenty in elastin. Hit the grocery store and stock up on good produce. It won’t be hard to include these foods into your daily diet.
3. No tanning!
This excess exposure to the sun will loosen your skin even more. I never understood tanning salons, there’s nothing attractive about looking like a toasted orange. If you’ll be in the sun, slather on that sunscreen and wear a big floppy hat so that the UV rays won’t damage your skin.
4. Weekly massage therapy
The massage will stimulate red blood cells to help firm the skin and give you a great excuse to relax as well. If it’s not in your price range, grab your SO and try this at home massage remedy.
5. Work it
Get familiar with your body and learn how to highlight your best features and conceal some of your insecurities. These tips aren’t miracle cures that will make your loose skin disappear in a week. Your skin is an organ that needs to time to bounce back. Be patient and don’t give up, there are others out there like you!
