Some of the coolest, craziest fashion looks come from festival season. Maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s being outdoors with 1000’s of cool, young people, or maybe it’s the beer tents! Whatever it is, the creative fashion juices are flowing and there is no outfit too outrageous or too skimpy to be sported at a festival.
I gather my best fashion inspiration from festival fashion, and while the crazy stuff is great, there are certain staple items that are just necessary! Check out our gallery below to learn what you
need to survive a week at some of the most fashion forward (or maybe backward) events of the year. Festival Fashion Staples
You will most definitely need a bag to hold your water, snacks, camera, tampons, sunscreen, etc. so that you can dance hand free. We recommend a backpack so that your shoulders aren’t aching by the end of the day, but if you want a satchel or a fanny pack, that works too! Just make sure there is sufficient room inside for any band tees that you might buy at the festival.
Protecting your head from harmful UV rays is very important, and can also be an opportunity to accessorize. We recommend something wide brim to shield your skin from the sun, but if you’re not a hat person, there are always scrunchies and head scarves to jazz up your hair with!
Sundress, romper, or overalls… it doesn’t matter which one, but it’s essential to have at least one (or all three) because there is nothing simpler then pulling on a one-piece outfit and looking stylish! Who has time to pick out both shorts and a shirt at a festival? Personally, I’d opp for the sundress or overalls, because rompers can be a bit tricky to remove. Especially in small, cramped outhouses.
The bralet is an essential piece of the festival fashion wardrobe. Not only because it supports our girls while we’re dancing our faces off, but also because it doubles as a shirt. High-waisted shorts and a bralet is a completely acceptable and fashionable outfit for a festival!
Rad accessories are the best part of festival fashion. You can bring only a few basic staples (high waisted shorts, black romper, sun hat, bralet), and make them look like a huge, diverse wardrobe with just a couple statement accessories. Of course, sunglasses and umbrella are actually great recommendations for practical reasons.
Makeup is something that should be minimal during a festival, because no ones got time for that and also ,chances are you’ll find yourself sweating it off halfway through the day anyways. We recommend a simple bb cream, some mascara, and a bold lip (lips are an accessory too!). Also, go for a bold nail color to spice up any outfit.
