Launching your brand can be the toughest thing to do in your life, but when you’re doing it right, you’ll know (and everyone else too). Last evening, Aleks Susak perfectly debuted her line to a room packed with industry leading professionals, media as well as notable personalities. The immaculate execution was due to her decade long experience in the fashion industry. Aleks Susak is a veteran to the world of fashion as she’s been involved in marketing to PR and finally to fashion design. It’s no wonder that the entire brand launch went without a hitch.
We were treated to a lovely cocktail party prior to her runway show and enjoyed some drinks as well as h’ors d’oeuvres. With our tummies filled and our faces flushed, we quickly found our seats to enjoy the show to come.
Her beautiful collection had a very modern and vertical silhouette accented with artwork that was hand painted onto the pieces. We saw an array of maxi dresses with buttons that ran up the front and centre, allowing the wearer to decide whether or not they wanted more or less skin to show. The majority of the pieces were relatively solid colored, except for a couple patterned ones throughout the collection here and there.
Find Out What Aleks Susak Had to Say
We caught up with the designer herself to chat a little bit about the collection as well as the inspiration behind each design.
A vast majority of the collection came in separates of jackets, and pants, and we saw a variety of different textiles. The main focus of the collection appeared to be leathers, soft silks and denim. Many of the jackets were done in leather with an overall color palette of neutrals. We saw pops of turquoise coming down the runway that went well with the colors chosen for the hand painted artwork. The contrast between the structured and heavy leather jackets against the flowing silk pants brought out an ethereal nature to her designs. And accompanied with the artwork, we felt in harmony with the raw textiles being used. Due to the bespoke nature of the pieces, the SS15 collection will soon be available but interested customers can contact Aleks Susak to place an order through her website. The pieces will range from $250 to $1, 200.
