Canada isn’t always known for its shopping. Up until a couple years ago, H&M was scarce and even the notion of a Nordstrom or a Sak’s 5th Avenue was completely laughable. But within the last year, not only has Nordstrom expanded into the Canadian market, MUJI has established itself in Toronto as well. Now, Uniqlo and Reiss are lined up to open their own free standing store in Canada as well, and along with the onslaught of retailers is H&M’s high-end sister line, COS.

If you’re a Canadian consumer, then we bet that you didn’t even know what COS was, or even the fact that it existed. But if you’re actually interested in it now that you know that it’s tied to H&M, let’s say that it’s a bit of an H&M, Zara and J. Crew combined together to provide wholesome fashion goodness.

If you’re a fan of the minimalistic look, then COS is going to be your new favorite store. All of their silhouettes are very basic and straight forward without the additional frills that you might find at trendier stores such as H&M and Forever 21. Everything that you buy will seamlessly fit into your wardrobe and can be adapted for different situations, unlike other pieces of clothing that are designed for a specific occasion only.

The geometric and sculptural influences also follow along a fairly neutral and soft color palette that won’t make you stick out from the crowd. If your aim is to blend in (it’s not always a bad thing!), then COS will be the first destination that you’ll want to hit up everytime you go shopping. We all need a place that we go to for when we we need to stock up on our basics right? But if you’re in need of something a little fun and special, COS does carry some bright colors as well which will act well as an accent against the rest of your neutral wardrobe.
