It’s been just over 48 hours since the iPhone 6 was released to the public and the internet has successfully gone crazy with everyone’s selfies and of course, the must anticipated drop tests of both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
It all started when a boy from Perth dropped his iPhone on live TV. We weren’t sure what was worse, him dropping it in the first place or that it was dropped on live TV. Not only was he one of the first people to get the iPhone 6, but he was probably one of the first, if not the first to drop it as well. Poor kid, we would have definitely had a shortage of breath in that moment.
One thing is for sure, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are incredibly thin that we weren’t expecting that Jack’s phone would have survived but to our surprise, it seemed fine! But then again, we couldn’t see too many small details from the camera. So, cue the drop tests.
For every major phone release, several online forms and blogs feature drop test segments where they drop the phone from different heights and see whether or not it breaks. If you are thinking what we are then yes, you’re right. It’s hard to be excited for a test that basically throws away thousands of dollars in technology to prove a point (or not). As a recently graduated student with a lot of student debt, it pained me to see all these phones going to waste. But, regardless, I guess we were all excited to see the results.
The first drop test comes from PhoneBuff who dropped both at varying heights. Surprisingly, his iPhone 6 and 6 Plus found their doom through different heights.
Second comes from Android Authority and to be honest, we were excited for an iPhone test to come from Android supporters. Would there be hidden angst in the test?
The last comes from TechSmartt who tested the phones with Apple cases on. See the results below.
Though the results from the tests varied, it shows that like every other iPhone, the glass screen is super delicate. So beware iPhone users! Know what you are getting yourself into before you try to stand in line.
What are your thoughts on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
