The weather’s getting chillier and we’re slowly starting to cover up but who says the fun has to stop? Our hems will get longer, but we can still show off some sexy skin. Check out this easy peasy tutorial for creating your very own lace skirt, no sewing involved! It’s a great way to recycle your old dresses and add some class into your wardrobe. Almost anyone can try it out because you only need three basic tools:
1. Find a patch of lace long enough to wrap around your waist. It can be from a fabric store or even a lace table cloth but make sure it’s long enough to extend past the length of your skirt. Cut it down to your preferred size.
2. Align the lace with the top of your skirt and grab some fabric glue to attach it. Don’t glue the entire piece down! Make sure it’s secure and dries completely before wearing it. If glue isn’t your thing, try fastening to lace with dollar store studs instead but make sure they aren’t very noticeable. Paper fasteners are great for this, found at any Walmart.
3. Style with a plain top and heels for an ultra girly but stylish look. You can make the black, white or both versions depending on your taste. If you want something unique, you can pick a wacky lace colour in hot pink or baby blue to drape over your white or black bottoms.
If you scope the streets, women are slowly adopting lace into their everyday outfits. It’s no longer too dressy for an everyday look. If you’re in need of some inspiration, we love how other fashionista rocked their pieces:
