It’s always great when you can use household items to create art! Nail art, that is. You can use plastic from a grocery bag, saran wrap, or a sandwich bag, to create this cool splattered paint design without the mess. You can use just one color, multiple colors, or in our case, two complementing colors. Get creative with this Plastic Wrap Nail Art!
Apply a base coat.
As always, start off with a base coat to protect your natural nail and provide a smooth base to work with.
Apply a solid coat of white polish.
To provide a background color for your design, paint on a solid coat of white polish. We used Essie’s Blanc, and it took 2 coats to get it solid. Let it dry completely before continuing with this design.
Cut out two squares of plastic.
You can use saran wrap, a grocery bag, or in our case, a Subway takeout bag (haha). Cut two (or the number of polishes you plan to use) squares of plastic out (about 2 inches all around).
Scrunch up the plastic.
Scrunch up the plastic into a little ball that you can hold onto!
Apply polish onto the plastic.
Apply a layer of polish onto the plastic, allow it to create some creasing. We are using Essie’s Chills n’ Thrills.
Stamp onto nail.
Stamp the plastic onto your nails repeatedly to get the cool effect!
Repeat with as many colors as you’d like to use. Get creative!
Apply a top coat.
Seal in your design with a top coat.
Clean off your cuticles.
Use a q-tip (or in our case, a cotton ball) with some nail polish remover to clean up around your nails.
