Apply a base coat.

Manicure Monday: Vampy Nautical Nail Art Make sure to use a base coat with dark colors so that you don’t stain your nails in the long run! We also love this base coat because it nourishes your nails to keep them strong and healthy.

Tape off the bottom 2 thirds of your nails.

Manicure Monday: Vampy Nautical Nail Art Leave the top third of your nail exposed so that it can be painted.

Paint your tips and then peel off the tape immediately.

Manicure Monday: Vampy Nautical Nail Art Make sure to take off the tape as soon as you’ve applied the nail polish to your tips. If you wait too long and let the nail polish dry, it may chip and peel off some of the nail polish that you just applied. And ain’t nobody got time to repaint! We also went back and applied a second coat to darken the color a little bit. But if your nail polish is opaque enough then you won’t have to worry about that.

Cut thin strips of tape.

Manicure Monday: Vampy Nautical Nail Art Judging on how short your nail beds are, you may want to cut the strips thinner so that you can fit them all onto your nail. We recommend widths of 1-2 mm for the perfect sizing.

Line up the tape on your nail and evenly space it out.

Manicure Monday: Vampy Nautical Nail Art Put the first strip of tap right below the nail polish that you just applied. Try to line the tape up with the edge as straight as possible. Put the other two strips of tape immediately below it with about 1-2 mm of spacing between each space.

Paint in between the two exposed areas of tape.

Manicure Monday: Vampy Nautical Nail Art Cover the exposed area of the nail (not the bottom portion!) with your nail polish. If you go over your tips, it’s okay, don’t worry about it! Make sure to peel off the tape before your polish dries to prevent chipping.

Apply a top coat.

Manicure Monday: Vampy Nautical Nail Art Make sure to seal in your nail art with a top coat! This will protect the nail polish from smudging and chipping!

Clean up the edges and voilà!

Manicure Monday: Vampy Nautical Nail Art Use some nail polish remover or aceton to clean up any smudges that you have along the sides and then you’re ready to show off your new mani!
