Everyone knows how to put together a typical Rum N’ Coke, a Vodka Sprite, and a Gin and Tonic. But what about the nicer drinks that you can get served at a bar, like cocktails, martinis or sangrias? Those can be a little bit more difficult and take some time to perfect. Well lucky for you, we’ve come up with a ridiculously simple recipe that tastes great and is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Bright and fresh tasting for the summer, enter the Melon Sangria. Grab the supplies below and you’ll be ready to go!

Mix It Yourself - Melon SangriaYou’re essentially going to be filling the glass at a ratio of 1:1:1 between Sprite, Calpico and the wine.

Next add the same amount of Calpico to your glass. It doesn’t have to be exact so don’t worry about measuring out all of the quantities. You can find Calpico at your local Chinatown. It’s pretty essential to the overall taste of the drink so avoid replacing it with something else if possible.

We chose white wine for the next step so that it wouldn’t change the color of the melon liqueur. If you’d prefer red wine then that would work too!

You’re only going to need a splash of this stuff for both color and taste. It’s pretty potent and too much of it can make the drink sickly sweet very quickly. Add a little bit first and then adjust it to your liking. You can always add more but you can’t take it back out!

Add some garnish with the fruit of your choice and you’re done! We’ve chosen to go with a strawberry since its color is on the opposite side of the color wheel and contrasts well with the green of the drink. If you’d rather slices of lemons or pineapples then go right ahead!
