Play with Your Food! Look How Awesome it Could Be!

Food is no longer something that we make and eat (okay, for most of us it probably is but others, not so much). With hashtags like #foodart, it has become just that, an artform. Just look at all the people that pull out their phones when their meal arrives just to take a picture to post on Instagram.

Food has to be aesthetically appealing, because above all, we first eat with our eyes. If something looks like a hot pile of brown poop, we most likely aren’t going to want to eat it. If something looks beautiful, we will at least give it a try (even if we don’t know what it is).

Although many of us would rather not spend 30 minutes putting together a Pikachu on our plates before gobbling it up, it is appreciated. So, we’ve curated a list of some of our favourite food art scenes that are either too cute or too impressive and shouldn’t even be eaten but rather just admired.

Samantha Lee aka @leesamantha on Instagram is arguably one of the cutest food accounts on IG. She creates scenes of art for her two daughters and the results are just… well, just see for yourself.

For those who don’t know who this character is, his name is Totoro. Google him.

Another account that does food art is @Idafrosk. Ida does simpler designs but probably still too complicated for any of us normal, uncreative in food art people to do.

The cutest dinosaur PB&B.

You could make a massive version of this and serve as a snack at your Thanksgiving dinner. Gobble Gobble.

This looks like a penguin with a hat to us. So that’s what it is. A penguin with a hat. SUPA CUTE.

Now that we’ve shared some of our fave food art plates, why not try out this very detailed photo of Olaf (from Frozen). If you have the time and patience to cut and shape everything, it could be a fun project.

Or you could start with something super simple like this PB and banana bear. Simply spread some peanut butter on toast, cut 3 slices of banana, get 3 blueberries, and place accordingly. Start from the bottom and work your way up to more complicated designs.

We encourage you to play with your food. Maybe one day you will be the next Samantha Lee. (Okay, probably not but a girl can dream).

Tell us:

Which one of these was your favorite and which one would you like to try?
