Most people find that summer is the season that they spend the most money. They’re out and about (gone is the season of hibernation), and more patio time means more money you’re spending. Our solution to this problem is to spend less on your summer wardrobe, so that you will have more money for fun in the sun! No worries, this does not mean you have to compromise looking cute this summer, because we have compiled a list of summer wardrobe essentials to get you focused on spending on the must-have items, because that’s all you’ll really need!
Maxi dresses can look very classy and sophisticated while keeping you cool. Personally, I’ve been loving anything backless, so naturally I fell in love with this one from ASOS. They’re breezy, effortless and there is a wide variety of the style and types of maxi dresses that you can experiment with. I hear many girls complain that maxi dresses don’t suit their body type – but that is not true! There is a maxi dress for every body type out there, just like swimsuits!
What are you doing out in the sun if you don’t own a sundress? The epitome of a summer wardrobe.. tons and tons of sundresses. Just like maxi dresses, there are such a variety of style and types of sundresses that the possibilities are endless. I like to choose ones that can be worn as a cover-up on the beach, as well as dressed up in the city. With denim’s strong comeback this season, I am loving this denim dress from ASOS. It can be easily slipped over my bikini, or dressed up with accessories for a day of shopping in the city and patio dates.
As much as we love the sun and getting our tan on, we also need to protect ourselves from harmful UV rays. We can do this in style with a pair of chic sunglasses. Cat-eyed frames are in this season, and I’m loving this pair by Ray-Ban. They have a subtle cat-eye effect, but still keep the aviator style that I’m in love with.
Ah, the season for our toes to be free! Flip-flops are probably my favorite thing about summer, because they’re comfortable and easy to slip on and off. I would live in flip-flops if I could (and if it was socially acceptable). The comfiest pair I’ve ever worn – and I’ve worn a lot – are Havaianas. They’re sleek, comfortable, and can be worn to the beach and right into the city as well.
Since we’ve all worked so hard to get our summer body (or at least tried), we have every excuse to bare the slightest bit of acceptable midriff in a cute cropped top. Cropped tops are still in this season and are a summer wardrobe essential because it pairs well with almost everything. Personally, I’m loving the athletic trend with cropped tops and this one from Aritzia is all that and more.
Top it all off with a hat. A cap, to be more exact. Baseball styled caps have made a comeback this season and that’s great for us as it protects our precious face from the sun. It also saves us from bad hair days, or oily roots that come with our salty beach hair that we refuse to wash because it gives us awesome textured beachy waves. Kick it up a notch with this faux-leather cap from Aritzia.
