You know social media is powerful when someone is selling a #hashtag ring for $825. Apparently, on Bloomingdale’s website, they are currently selling a 18-karat yellow gold ring with a 1 carat diamond from Khai Khai Jewelry for that amount.
The ring, pictured above, is sold by an upscale New York jewelry brand owned by Haim Medine, who started the company in 2006. Khai Khai Jewelry sells all sorts of… interesting and unique jewelry, including but limited to the Yolo necklace and the Kale necklace. The Yolo necklace is currently priced at $2,000 and the Kale necklace is at $750.
Speaking with the Daily Mail, the designer comments on his designs:
[pull_quote_center]I try to go against what people consider the confines of jewelry design. [/pull_quote_center]
[pull_quote_center]If you were to show some of these things to people in the industry who have been doing this for years, designing for Harry Winston or Tiffany’s, they would be like, what are you thinking? An “F you” ring in 18-karat gold with diamonds or a fist emoticon in 18-karat gold and diamonds. They wouldn’t even understand that.[/pull_quote_center]
The retailer certainly stands out in the industry with these trendy and hip designs — which can’t be found anywhere else (in the high scale market anyway). They are made with great materials and so we’re pretty sure the price can be justified for some people. If you’re willing to divulge money into jewelry, you can at least be sure these will last a while.
If you’re just a regular Jane like the rest of us, this thing is probably kind of excessive. Maybe you’ll just settle for a cheaper version of the ring on Etsy.
Would you wear a hashtag ring or a Yolo necklace for this price?
