Beach season is upon us! And if you’re like us, you spend as much time at the beach as you can. Here’s a look into what’s in our beach bag to give you an idea what we consider the essentials. Overpacking for the beach is just as bad as overpacking for an overnight trip (we’re guilty too)!
The Beach Bag
Spacious, cute, and sand proof. The three most important things we consider when choosing a beach bag. This super cute, nautical themed beach bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs is lightweight, easy-to-carry tote. The drawstrings pull in to shrink the bag’s size if you happen to be packing extra light. The cotton canvas fabric keeps sand out, and is durable to throw on the beach.
Of course, sunglasses are the ultimate summer accessory – oh, and of course they protect our eyes from the UV rays that we have a love-hate relationship with. Personally, we went for this inexpensive pair from Nordstrom, as the probabilities of it getting smushed in your beach bag are highly likely.
A fun beach towel is directly related to the amount of fun you’ll have on the beach. Lay down in style with this funky rug-like printed towel from Crate and Barrel. And make sure it’s a towel big enough for two… because who knows who you’ll meet at the beach 😉
It’s quite relaxing and stress-relieving to lay back on the beach with a good read. Personally, we are loving #GIRLBOSS, a motivation read written by Sophia Amoruso, the founder and CEO of Nasty Gal. She teaches women life lessons not only about business, but about being a powerful woman in today’s age. Sophia translates that by talking about her own life experiences and her climb to being someone other’s now look up to.
Stay hydrated. The sun and sand can really make you feel dry. It’s important to drink lots of water, on and off the beach. Take it a step further and be environmentally friendly with this glass water bottle from BKR. It’s cute, clean, and the perfect size!
Of course, the number one rule about being in the sun is to wear sunscreen. Most of us hate the smell, the feel, and the look of sunscreen, but this one by Coola gives you no excuse to not wear it. It has a lovely smell (it also comes in unscented!) and has an organic formula that rubs into the skin beautifully. With it being organic, it is suitable for all skin types and does not clog up your pores like typical oily sunscreens. To learn more about why you should wear sunscreens, check out our article here.
Don’t neglect your lips when it comes to protecting your skin from the sun. This Ombrelle lip balm helps hydrate any dry lips that you may get from being out in the sun and sand all day. Along with that, it provides SPF protection to keep your lips bright and luscious.
