As we wrapped up Day 3 at WMCFW S/S 2015, Hayley Elsaesser gave us a collection that put nothing but smiles on our faces. From the soundtrack and the peppy walks of the models, we knew the collection was going to be unique and fun. One of the first things that the designer portrayed through her collection was telling us that it’s totally okay to mix prints as long as you balance them out together.
Hayley Elsaesser’s S/S 2015 Collection
The colors were on a vibrant scale consisting of pinks, blues, reds, and greens. But plain was the last thing seen at this runway show. The collection was inspired by heavenly patterns, literally. The designer showed a few pieces with the word “heavenly” written on them as a pattern. Think of it as a portrayal of wearable, written pop art. This collection is meant for a woman who likes to portray her bright personality through her clothing. The standout pieces were a green two piece ensemble and a ruby-red dress which both glistened on the runway.
The collection paid homage to a woman’s body with prints of hands and lips as patterns on the clothing. The designer also incorporated patterns of Saturn to further the delightful quirkyness the collection encapsulated.
One thing that makes a big impact on any runway is the hair and makeup on the models and let us tell you, Hayley Elsaesser did that beautifully. The models came down the runway with what appeared to be silver glitter or tinsel in their hair. We truly understood the vibe the designer wanted to achieve and think she nailed it. In addition to the unique hair, the models were wearing two toned pink lipstick which gave a further image of a pop art inspiration. Overall, Hayley Elsaesser gave us something unique and fresh for spring and summer and ended Day 3 of WMCFW with a strong runway show.
